Hey guys!
I just came back from my trip to Rhodes in greece. First we intended to spend spend our holidays in Fanes in the northern part, but due to the fact that there was no wind at all, so we settled down to a spot in the southern part of the island, Prasonissi. A really great spot with a large sandbank with flatwater on the one and waves on the other side! We were unlucky with the wind but I got some pictures though. Check it out!

]]> Tuva http://www.takoon.com/en/news/Tuva info@takoon 2012-08-01 14:44:00 Being back in Indo always feels good. Waking up to the sound of waves are the best possible way to wake up. Our house has been full of friends since we arrived and we have been having some fun session surfing with out any crowd on the spot just in front of the house. The wind has been on and of, but we have managed to get some hours of kiting in as well, and a few hours of swimming back after the wind suddenly has turned of shore. But who cares, it is always worth it anyway.
Aya loves indo and all her new friends! The woman here adores kids, so it is never a problem to find a babysitter for a couple of hours when the wind is on. I am very happy to be here with her, since life here is so easy and chill. No stressing around and that makes it all so much more enjoyable.
We got one more month before the camp starts now, and it is fully booked so it will be pretty busy for a couple of months, but it is all good. Always fun to ride with motivated people like most of the guys we get on the camp.
I will keep you posted with some video and photos from our best sessions here, so keep checking in.

Cyril Pimont finished 4th when Sylvain "Momo" Maurin, finished on the eve of his 52 years in the top ten.
Cyril was riding Furia 11 and 13 while momo rode the 13 and a 15m² 201 prototype.

You might go there on a 10 days trip like me and not have the luck to find much wind. In fact, it is not the same wind fabric as you might find up North of Brazil, where all the most famous spots are (Cumbuco, Paracuru …), but it offers plenty of different activities to do and there is so much to see that you won’t have time in such a short time. I indeed had only one day of proper wind while they had a full week of wind before I came, and it kicked back as soon as I left…at a luck.
The main spot for kiting and even great surfing is Barra. You got kilometers of white stunning beaches with the finest sand, waves all along to surf or use as kickers, good water and air temperature… definitely a city I could be living in for water sports.

The comp offered the chance to amateurs to compete with us on the race on the first day, and the second day was for our teams to make the show for the crowd. Gisela was the Spanish captain, Aaron was the English and I was the French one. We all had invited some of our best mates to compete.
The competition required a bit of strategy since we had to choose the riders for each heat according to what other teams had decided, the purpose was to make the most victories. There were individual heats, heats of 2 riders doing synchronized tricks, and finally the whole team doing a sort of synchronized show… We, frenchies, didn’t get much first positions in the individual heats but we did a good job on the team thing… we tried to make the best possible show for the crowd and it was very funny.
Gisela and her team ended being first overall, we managed to finish second and the British third.
Here a few pics, the first video of the event, and thanks to all supporters who gave us a bit of advantage thanks to their votes"

This spot is recognized as being one of the best Snow Kiting destinations in the world.
We met up with my friend Remi Meum who is one of the world best snow kiters. He took us around and showed us some good places to kite. He made it look very easy, but it is so hard!
The redbull event was a lot of fun as well. More than 200 kiters at the start line! I think I have never seen that many kiters at one time ever. The winner was the first one to finish 5 rounds of 14 km. It was a workout! The wind was a bit too light so it made it even harder. I got 5th among the girls in the end, and I was pretty stoked just to have made it as far as I did.

Had a lot of fun playing around on my surfboard with no straps. I am also very stocked about my new Reflex kites, they work so good for freestyle and for the waves.

Maui to me, means a lot of girl time, since it is usually a lack of that when I am traveling I really enjoy it. Just hanging out , surfing, kiting, and shooting some lifestyle stuff with Tracy Kraft has been really fun and I will miss it a lot.

Now I am on my way to Norway to go snow kiting!

We sailed down to the island of Boa Vista. The wind was blowing around 25 knot all day, everyday for 8 days, and we got lucky with the waves as well.  With a boat you can get access to many good spots with no other people around. Pretty sick.

I have now been in Indonesia for 3 weeks already, time go fast here! Me and Bertrand have moved into our new house, right one the spot. John Bilderback is here to shoot some video for the new Oxbow video, that video will blow your mind...

We have had a couple really good sessions, I am having a really great time, except a scary meeting with a deadly poisoning sea snake and a 2m crocodile in the water.

I am really stoked about my 9m soul kite in the waves, it works so good! Easy to make the turns and the kite never falls down, so stable!

But it has been one of the best winters in years with swell after swell, so people over here are stoked. I have been spending most of my time here doing some freestyle and strapless kitesurfing on my burning board. Pretty fun just to cruse around and try to do some small airs on it. Looks easy watching the guys doing it, but nope, not that easy….The good thing about it, is that you do not need perfect waves to have fun!

It is soon time to leave Hawaii and the flatness here and go back to Europe for the summer. Got a few plans there, doing a little traveling around Norway in search for some wave spots, and then I will spend some time in France with the Takoon team.

The race contest is over in Mondial du vent, Leucate, France. Julien finished first after seven runs with the Chrono. He crossed the line with an indecency advance. On the second run, he arrived 4 minutes before the second! Way before the actual speed world champion…

Between 2 runs, Julien tested prototypes with the R& D team.

He’s in waiting period for the Orange Speed crossing against the best windsurfers. And he’ll fly to Texas next week for the next contest.

Julien was at the first stage of the race and freestyle PKRA on the spot of HUA HIN in Thailand. Conditions were very light, he rode with its Chrono 15 and 12m².

Despite difficult first races due to collision, Julien finished 3rd at this first stage of the PKRA season. CONGRATS

Next stage will be the “mondial du vent” in France then “world” in Texas end of April !

The event is a celebration of wind and waves which attracts wave sailors, kite surfers and stand up paddlers (SUP) from around the globe, Australia and is keenly contested by a band of up-and-coming locals.

An expected stand-out this year will be the dynamic kite surfer Bertrand Fleury.

James Weight and Ben Morrison-Jack, are more than half way through their record journey from Cape Grim in northern Tasmania to Victoria, about 240 kilometres.

Takoon is the pround sponsor with Snickers of this crossing of nasty cold sea fed by winds and currents from the Antarctic.

It is an amazing place and the wind blows here throughout the summer at about 25 to 30 knots most days. The temperatures are great too, especially if you are used to kiting in 45 degrees in Dubai in the summer.

I finally used my PURE the first time. I loved it and so did the rest of the people who got to try them-what an amazing kite. I really had a fabulous time and loved riding the PURE. The other riders that got to try them were really happy with it too.
